WEIDMANN offers a wide range of laboratory services, such as mechanical, chemical, optical and electrical tests as well as various aging tests simulating the environmental conditions of materials and components used in electrical power apparatus.

WEIDMANN laboratories perform tests with the following targets: acceptance inspection of raw material, process control, product development tests and failure analysis Using our state-of-the-art testing equipment, tests can be performed in accordance with the current standards for insulation materials, plastics or according to customers specification.

Field of Application
Power and distribution transformer industry, transformer users (utilities and industrial users), motor and generator industry, manufacturing and repair of apparatus for transmission and distribution of electrical energy. WEIDMANN specializes in testing electrical insulation materials according to IEC, GOST, and ASTM standards.

Mechanical Tests

Optical Tests
  • Particles contamination check with X-ray apparatus

Simulation of Environmental Conditions
  • Thermal aging in ovens up to 300 °C
  • Climatic cabinet -40 °C to 200 °C, 0 to 100% relative humidity
  • Artificial weathering with QUV and SUNTEST equipment
  • Aging laboratory for long-term thermal aging in oil up to 150 °C

Electrical Tests
  • AC-voltage (up to 400 kV) – Partial discharge inception in fully screened high voltage laboratories
  • DC-voltage (up to 600 kV)
  • Impulse generator 800 kV
  • Testing of samples in air, oil immersed (vacuum impregnation) and SF6 atmosphere
