Weidmann St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Grand Opening Ceremony
On Wednesday, May 27, Weidmann celebrated an important milestone with the grand opening of our newly expanded factory facility in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. More than 120 employees, community representatives, local officials, customers and partners joined us to mark the occasion and recognize the collective effort that made this achievement possible. The event was held in the newly constructed warehouse, which was transformed for the day into a unique event space.
The expansion represents a $50 million investment in our future and a key step in Weidmann’s global capacity expansion strategy. As demand for transformer insulation materials continues to grow, driven by grid modernization, electrification, and the global energy transition, this investment strengthens our ability to support customers with the quality, reliability, and capacity they depend on in the Americas region.
The new facility significantly increases our production capabilities and reinforces St. Johnsbury’s important role within Weidmann’s global manufacturing network. The investment increases total Transformerboard production capacity by more than 30% and expands output from our Fabrication North component manufacturing facility, strengthening our ability to meet growing customer demand. It also creates opportunities for future growth, including the addition of approximately 60 new jobs, further reinforcing our long-standing commitment to the Northeast Kingdom and the State of Vermont.
While the opening ceremony provided an opportunity to showcase the new facility and celebrate with our community, the day was also about recognizing the dedication and teamwork behind the project. From initial planning and engineering through construction, installation, commissioning, and start-up, employees across multiple functions worked together to deliver this major investment safely and successfully.
A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to the project. Your commitment, expertise, and hard work have helped deliver an upgraded facility that will support our customers, strengthen our global manufacturing footprint, and position Weidmann for continued growth in the years ahead.
