About Nomex® Alutherm Shields

Alutherm shields, made of aluminum foil tapes that are laminated to Nomex® 411 paper, are designed to be used in high-temperature applications. The shields are used to increase partial discharge inception voltage, to avoid capacitive coupling between high and lower voltage windings, and to reduce the capacitive transmission of interference voltage.

They are metalized screens manufactured with an aluminum foil laminated Nomex®. Nomex® is a synthetic aromatic polyamide polymer that provides high levels of electrical, chemical, and mechanical integrity in a high-temperature environment.
