About Nomex® Cylinders

Weidmann Nomex® Cylinders are stable, mechanically strong, electrically reliable and can also serve to divide larger oil gaps into several, smaller oil gaps, using the barrier technique. This method achieves significantly increased strength at given clearances.

Under an agreement with DuPont™, Weidmann offers Nomex® high-temperature cylinders and other transformer components. Nomex® is a synthetic aromatic polyamide polymer that provides high levels of electrical, chemical, and mechanical integrity. Cylinders are manufactured from Nomex® 993 or calendered 993 (NBC), depending on the required stability.
